Which Jurisdictions Accept Electronic Permits?

Did you know that over 30 jurisdictions accept electronic credentials at roadside?

Utilizing electronic permit books is a new concept and while the benefits to fleets, drivers and enforcement officers is clear you may be wondering how practical it is out on the road. As of January 1st, 2019 all IFTA and IRP member jurisdictions in the United States and Canada accept electronic IFTA Licences and IRP Apportioned Cab Cards at roadside. Additionally, many jurisdictions are also allowing drivers to carry and display oversize/overweight permits electronically instead of carrying paper copies.

While acceptance of all other credentials does vary according to each jurisdictions laws and policies we are seeing much broader acceptance by enforcement officers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Emailing a driver, corporate or asset credential at roadside rather than passing a paper documents ensures both parties stay as safe as possible.

If you are wondering which states and provinces are officially allowing drivers to display many or all of their credentials electronically at roadside, we have you covered. To view the list of where each jurisdiction stands on electronic credential acceptance, click here.
